“Dropping out of school is not an option”

on February 25th, 2009 by fortheprize

I’m sure there will be varying thoughts on the first Presidential Address to the joint session of Congress held February 24th 2008 by President Barak Obama.

Many will highlight his statements on energy, health care and educational reform. However, for me, the most profound and memorable moment of the speech is where President Obama stated that “dropping out of school is not an option“…. “America needs and values the talents of every American.”

I am not American and I don’t live in the U.S. and now, I’m sure you are now wondering why did that part of the speech have meaning to me?

It is said that “education is key” and I encourage us all that a good education should not be about getting a job. It should be about becoming inventors, pioneers, leaders, and visionaries. Every human being should take the responsibility to positively contribute to the welfare and well being of their homes, families, communities, cities and country.
