Michael Jackson Hospitalized in UCLA Medical Center

Michael Jackson was hospitalized in the UCLA medical center suffering from cardiac arrest on Friday, June 25, 2009. The 50 years old, entertainer was rushed to the hospital by paramedics after collapsing at his home and was reportedly not breathing when the fire department arrived.

This comes as a setback to concerts in London in upcoming weeks to promote his comeback to the music industry.

So what exactly is cardiac arrest? A heart attack? No, a cardiac arrest is often confused with a  heart attack. By medical definitions, a cardiac arrest is different from a heart attack in that absent or inadequate contraction of the left ventricle of the heart that immediately causes bodywide circulatory failure. In a heart attack, Blood vessel leads to he heart clogged stops blood to flow to the heart. Unlike a heart attack which is more common with older persons, cardiac arrests often comes completely out of the blue, and without any family history.

Shocking someone’s heart back into rhythm is the fastest solutions.

In cardiac arrest the person needs help within 3 – 5 minutes to minimize permanent damage as extreme as the loss of brain function or permanent brain damage.

At 5:22 PM. CNN reported that sources reported that Michael Jackson was in a coma at the ucla medical center. A coma means that there is minimal brain function. In cardiac arrest within 3 -5 minutes lose brain function.

At 5:28 PM CNN reported that the Los Angeles Times reported that he died.

At 5:49 CNN still did not confirm that Michael Jackson is dead

At 5:50 PM, again CNN reports that The Los Angeles Times is reporting that Michael Jackson has died
