Originating from Houston, Texas USA, Kim Burrell is a Gospel Singer. Her voice is infectious and follows every note and key like an instrument. She is often likened to Ella Fitzgerald and is one of the most influential voices to many genres ranging form from Jazz to R&B to Pop.
Kim Burrell is assistant pastor at Jericho City, Church of God In Christ (COGIC). She was born August 25, 1972 (Age 37) and raised in a Christian home, she is saved and sanctified. Her mother is an Evangelist , Evangelist Spears and her father is a pastor in the Church of God in Christ. Kim Burrell sang her first solo with the church choir at age one, led her church choir at age 12, released her first independent album “Try Me Again” in 1996.
On her first solo CD – She sings a song entitled “I Keep Holding On”, where she does rifts that are like “Morse Code in Gospel” ~ Donnie McClurkin
With 4 Albums and numerous collaborations with artistes such as Hezekiah Walker, Donnie McClurkin, Tye Tribbett, Karen Clark-Sheard, Ricky Dillard, Tri-City Singers, Mary Mary, Shirley Caesar, Harry Connick Jr., Stevie Wonder, R. Kelly, Richard Smallwood and many more, she also holds the Gospel Excellence Award (2000) for Female Vocalist of the Year – Contemporary for Everlasting Life and Stellar Award (2000) for Contemporary Female Vocalist of the Year for Everlasting Life.
Kim Burrell is expected to release her 5th album in 2010
